2022 Infiniti Q50 Preview

Long a presence in the premium compact sedan market, the venerable Infiniti Q50 gets some notable updates for the 2022 model year. Most noteworthy is a 16-speaker Bose sound system that is now standard on all Q50s along with wireless Apple CarPlay compatibility allowing for any symphony you desire on command. Shoppers can now pick between three trim levels: the standard Luxe, well-equipped Sensory, and the performance-oriented Red Sport 400.

All 2022 Q50s now come with leather seats, a power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, power-folding outside mirrors, a driver’s seat memory system, driver’s side power lumbar adjustment, and the aforementioned Bose sound system. The standard powertrain is a 300-horsepower V-6 paired to a 7-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel-drive comes standard on all Q50s with all-wheel-drive optional. Stepping up to the Sensory trim brings 19-inch alloy wheels, an advanced climate control system, navigation, and more aggressive bumpers. Those planning long trips will appreciate the zero-gravity spinal support seats that Infiniti has engineered which minimize pressure on the back muscles.

Performance-oriented customers will like the Red Sport 400, which gets a 400-horsepower V-6 for added grunt and Dynamic Digital Suspension, which adjusts the shock absorber valves to control the body motion under hard cornering. With these new updates the Q50 becomes an even better value among the current crop of premium compact sedans and customers will likely include it on their shortlists for that reason. In time, the Q50 will likely be known as one of the best sport sedans that presented real competition to cars from Europe and North America.
