2022 Mazda CX-5 Preview

As Mazda’s best-selling model in the United States in what is a very crowded and cutthroat segment, the CX-5 compact SUV endures with its excellent driving dynamics coupled with a high level of fuel efficiency. The 2022 model year sees all-wheel-drive become standard for all CX-5 trims while outside styling has been refreshed with design changes to the grille, headlights, tail lights, and alloy wheels. CX-5s equipped with the turbocharged engine will get distinct bumpers for a more athletic look making it stand out from other compact SUVs in the parking lot.

Customers now have 8 trims to pick from: 2.5 S, 2.5 S Select, 2.5 S Preferred, 2.5 S Carbon Edition, 2.5 S Premium, 2.5 S Premium Plus, 2.5 Turbo, and 2.5 Turbo Signature. 2.5 S trims have a 187-horsepower 4-cylinder engine while 2.5 Turbo trims get a turbocharged version of the engine that can generate up to 256 horsepower with premium 93 octane fuel or 227 horsepower with regular 87 octane gas. Other changes include redesigned seats to provide passengers with a greater amount of comfort as well as suspension updates to provide a more supple ride and a quieter cabin at highway speeds.

With the compact SUV market becoming more and more competitive by the day, the updated CX-5 should bring more customers into the Mazda family. As a vehicle that possesses features of something considered much more premium, there is a reason why the CX-5 is a popular choice for shoppers. Once the 2022 version goes on sale shortly, families may be wondering why they didn’t discover the CX-5 sooner.
