2022 GMC Terrain Preview

One of the most cost-effective ways to join the GMC family, the compact Terrain gets a mid-cycle refresh for the 2022 model year. Notably the Terrain now gets an off-road-oriented AT4 trim level with a front steel skid plate. In addition, the Elevation edition remains, providing the opportunity to augment the style of the SLE and SLT trims. The top-of-the-line trim level is still the Denali.

On the equipment front, the safety features have increased, with automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision alert, front pedestrian braking, a following distance indicator, and IntelliBeam coming standard. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard too with Amazon Alexa capabilities built in. A head-up display is available on higher-end trim levels.

The outside sees a more aggressive front grille, redesigned front headlamps and taillights, four new available colors, as well as new 18-inch and 19-inch wheel designs. The sole powertrain will be a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine making 170 horsepower paired to a 9-speed automatic transmission with the choice of front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive depending on trim level. Going on sale in fall of this year, we’ll be interested to see how much more desirable the Terrain will become.
