People have thought that Maseratis have long been for individuals who don’t wish to conform to the norm. After spending some time with the italian-made Levante on the roads of scenic Half Moon Bay and on Highway 1, we’re convinced that thought is wrong as we came away from the driver’s seat with a smile having discovered what Maserati owners love about their vehicles. The Levante is for people that want some added style choices for their luxury SUV along with excellent handling characteristics and supple ride quality.

Our Levante GranLusso test vehicle came with beautiful Ermenegildo Zegna silk & leather upholstery (the amount of silk used can provide for 5 suits) in the interior and lustrous Bianco Alpi paint on the outside which immediately made it stand out from other SUVs. The Levante was very comfortable on rough roads due to a standard active air suspension as well as the front and rear laminated glass and handled exceptionally well on winding roads due to the standard limited-slip differential along with the Skyhook performance suspension.

Plenty of equipment comes standard such as a twin-turbocharged V-6 making 345 horsepower which enabled the Levante to accelerate quickly up Highway 1, panoramic sunroof that made the interior feel airy, heated and ventilated front seats, a 14-speaker Harman/Kardon sound system, blind spot assist, a surround-view camera system for parking, and adaptive full LED matrix headlamps. There was plenty of storage space in the back and more than enough room for back seat passengers, helping make the Levante as useful as possible.

After experiencing the Levante firsthand, we were amazed at the high level of comfort and practicality on hand while retaining the driving dynamics that Maseratis are renowned for. We savored our time with the Levante and we know many other shoppers will appreciate what it provides in style and functionality. In a competitive luxury segment, the Levante has distinct qualities and features that only an Italian SUV can have.
