With a bold all-new design, Nissan intends for the 2022 Pathfinder to continue to be an attractive pick in the competitive family SUV segment. Offering seating for up to 8 people, an optional 4-wheel-drive system with a terrain mode selector, and a new 9-speed transmission which provides for the ability to tow up to 6,000 pounds, the Pathfinder has been optimized for the needs of today’s families.

All 2022 Pathfinders will come with a 284-horsepower V-6 with an Intelligent 4WD system optional. Unlike other family SUVs, the Pathfinder’s 4WD system has direct coupling, which allows for immediate take-off in low-traction situations. In addition, the 6,000-pound maximum towing capacity allows active family members to haul boats, ATVs, camp tents or trailers. LED headlights and taillights come standard.

On the inside, options include a 12.3-inch digital dashboard which allows the driver to configure the gauge cluster information as well as a 10.8-inch Head-up Display. Also, buyers can choose the option of a 9-inch touchscreen center display for the infotainment system which has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard. Other available features include a 10-way power driver's seat, climate controlled front seats, heated rear seats, a 13-speaker Bose sound system, and ProPILOT Assist, which allows the Pathfinder to use the steering assist and adaptive cruise control features to help with acceleration, braking and steering in both heavy traffic and on the open highway, making long drives easier.

As for passenger comfort, 8-passenger capacity comes standard, while second-row captain’s chairs are optional and bring a removable center storage console. Pathfinders with the second-row bench seat have an EZ FLEX one-touch release fold/side with push button activation feature from both the driver and passenger sides, making things much simpler when getting in and out for the back seat passengers as well as parents. Furthermore, the cargo area can fit a 120-quart cooler or four golf bags with all three-rows up and can even accommodate 4x8-foot plywood sheets. Nissan has also worked to ensure the Pathfinder’s cabin is even more quiet, with acoustic laminated front glass, thicker 2nd row glass, increased door and floor isolation, and a 60 percent increase in engine noise absorption.

Ultimately, we’re looking forward to trying out the 2022 Pathfinder. Having spent an extensive amount of time with the current model, the new version should bring even more pleasure to families looking for a prominent and stylish vehicle for everyone. Once it goes on sale this summer, we’ll be interested to see what American families think of it, with the styling drawing plenty of them in.
