Buick has decided to move to an all SUV lineup for 2021, with the redesigned 2021 Envision showcasing the brand’s take on a premium compact SUV, created to be a viable alternative to the usual stalwarts from European and Asian brands. The new Envision is most noticeable by its handsome design, a welcome departure from the sharp creases and edges seen on many of today’s compact SUVs. With the new Envision, Buick seeks to gain a foothold in the competitive premium compact SUV market and has packed in the styling and features to match.

Customers have three trims to choose from: the base Preferred, midrange Essence, and high-end Avenir. A Sport Touring package is available on the Essence and Avenir which adds darkened exterior touches and 20-inch wheels with a darkened finish. All Envisions have LED headlamps and taillamps along with welcome/walkaway lighting animation, while a panoramic moonroof is available on Essence and Avenir trims. The sole powertrain is a 228-horsepower 4-cylinder engine paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel-drive is optional.

In the interior, a 10.2-inch-diagonal infotainment touchscreen is optional as part of the driver-oriented instrument panel. A 60/40-split second row seat is standard and can fold flat in line with the cargo area. Also standard is QuietTuning, which includes active noise cancellation and strategically placed acoustic materials, and the Buick Driver Confidence Plus package, which brings automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist, lane change alert, forward collision alert, and rear park assist.

Those who want the ultimate Buick luxury experience will find it with the Avenir trim level. Opting for the Avenir brings heated and ventilated front seats with diamond-perforated quilted leather, a driver’s seat massage feature, heated rear seats, navigation, and wireless smartphone charging. Furthermore, the Envision Avenir gets an exclusive mesh grille with tinted chrome along with unique 20-inch wheels. Other features include adaptive cruise control, a head-up display, enhanced automatic parking assist, and high-definition surround vision.

With the new Envision, Buick aims to have a noticeable product in the very popular premium compact SUV market. With its understanded style, the Envision will likely win its fair share of buyers in the segment who desire premium transportation that stands out from the rest of the vehicles in the parking lot and on the driveways. As the Envision enters more and more garages, we don’t doubt that shoppers will give Buick a look in their vehicle search.
