2023 Toyota bZ4X Preview

With more and more automakers adding an all-electric SUV to their lineups, Toyota has joined the fray with its upcoming bZ4X. The bZ4X is the first in Toyota’s electric vehicle offering under the new “Toyota bZ” (Beyond Zero) electric vehicle sub-brand. Engineered to provide a range of up to 250 miles when equipped with front-wheel-drive (all-wheel-drive is optional) while providing the versatility that customers expect from a compact SUV, the bZ4X should become a major presence in the EV market.

The bZ4X has a major focus on comfort, with soundproofing glass, wind-noise reduction features, and plenty of legroom for both front and rear passengers. In addition, the interior is intended to be a pleasant place, with a panoramic roof, high-tech instrument panel, and accessible USB ports. Toyota’s Safety Sense 3.0 suite of driver assistance features will come on the bZ4X with an expanded detection range of the radar and camera, which enable low-light cyclist detection and guardrail detection. Other tech features include a navigation system that can route drivers according to traffic conditions and parking space availability in real time as well as a digital key which allows owners to lock, unlock, and switch on the bZ4X with their smartphone.

Furthermore, in keeping with a focus on reliability, Toyota is targeting a battery capacity retention of 90 percent after 10 years of ownership. Once the bZ4X goes on sale later in 2022, we will be interested in seeing how well the bZ4X functions as a day-to-day vehicle. At the end of the day, the upcoming bZ4X will most likely become the go-to electric vehicle for many people due to its crossover proportions and comfort.
