In June of this year, Nissan debuted a completely updated Rogue, one of the best-selling compact SUVs in the United States. To better accommodate the families that purchase the Rogue, the rear doors can open nearly 90 degrees to make it easier to install a child seat or enter or exit the vehicle. For greater rear seat comfort, the rear seats can recline and are specifically designed for spinal support. Most of the visible changes are on the outside, with standard LED headlights and a redesigned grille. With the revised Rogue, Nissan hopes to grow its market share in the extremely popular compact SUV segment and deliver an ownership experience that was not so long ago available only in much more expensive vehicles.

As Rogue users will be concerned with passenger safety, Nissan Safety Shield 360 comes standard and brings automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert when reversing, and rear automatic braking. Also standard are the Intelligent Driver Alertness technology which can detect signs of drowsiness or inattention and then suggest the driver take a break, as well as Rear Door Alert which honks to remind drivers if they left something in the back seat. Other standard features include Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Push Button Start and a Divide-n-Hide system in the rear cargo area that can allow passengers to hide and secure important items.

Notable options and equipment standard on higher trim levels includes navigation, tri-zone climate control, the Nissan Intelligent Key system, a motion-activated tailgate, and Remote Engine Start with Intelligent Climate Control which allows drivers to heat or cool the interior before getting into the Rogue before setting off. Additional options include wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless smartphone charging, and. A full-color 10.8-inch head-up display, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster display, and 9-inch touchscreen infotainment display are available to provide a high amount of information to drivers. Furthermore, an Around View Monitor for tight parking situations and a Bose sound system for audiophiles can be chosen on higher trim levels.

Those who plan to use the Rogue for long highway trips will appreciate Nissan's ProPILOT Assist option, which couples the steering assist and intelligent cruise control systems together to minimize the hassle of stop-and-go traffic and ensure the vehicle is traveling safely on the highway. A new feature is Vehicle Motion Control which can predict what the driver is trying to do by monitoring the steering, acceleration and braking and then work to smooth the operation to make for a better driving experience.

Front-wheel-drive is standard on all Rogues with all-wheel-drive optional. Rogues equipped with all-wheel-drive have five driving modes to choose from: Off-road, Snow, Standard, Eco and Sport, while front-drive versions have the Sport, Standard and Eco modes to pick from. All Rogues come with a 4-cylinder engine generating 181 horsepower paired to an automatic transmission.

Overall, the Rogue should continue to be a very popular choice in the compact SUV segment. With its updated design and high-tech features, families will keep the Rogue on their short list as a vehicle that can do it all for a reasonable price. Nissan will likely have little trouble staying competitive with this Rogue with all the updated features and the new styling.
