Quick Take: 2020 Kia Stinger GTS
During a short time with the Kia Stinger GTS, the Cartrast team was able to experience the attributes which has made it a vaunted alternative to cars like the BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe, Alfa Romeo Giulia, and Dodge Charger. Our Stinger GTS had the D-AWD system, which is Kia’s all-wheel-drive system with a drift mode. This system is capable of sending 100 percent of the power to the rear wheels unlike up to 80 percent on the standard Stinger GT models. A limited-slip differential also comes standard with the GTS.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t sample the drifting capabilities of our very orange (by the way, orange is the only available exterior color for the GTS, leading to many random conversations) Stinger GTS in the hills of Carmel Valley, but we were able to exercise the twin-turbocharged 365-horsepower 3.3-liter V-6. The Stinger had excellent acceleration and stuck in the corners very well. As for the interior, the steering feel was excellent. Only a black interior color is available and carbon-trim is on the grille, side mirror caps and vents. In addition, a “Stinger” badge comes in place of the Kia logo on the trunk.
Including the all-wheel-drive system, the Stinger GTS we test drove had an MSRP of $47,395. Only 800 Stinger GTS cars will be built with most equipment optional on the Stinger GT as standard. Those who want something fast and distinctive will have plenty of fun with the Stinger GTS and its orange paint. Ultimately, the Stinger GTS makes the Stinger even more special and fans will love it.
