For the 2022 model year, Hyundai has performed a significant refresh of the popular Kona Electric subcompact SUV. Made in Korea, the Kona now has newly styled headlamps and LED daytime running lamps and is 1.6 inches longer than the previous version. The interior has received an update too, with new ambient lighting and increased room in the cargo area, along with USB port access and increased legroom for people in the back seat.

Another change in the interior of the Kona Electric is the addition of large 10.25-inch screens both in the gauge cluster and in the center as the infotainment system display. Furthermore, driving refinement is increased with new acoustic windshield glass, new instrument panel insulation and additional cargo area insulation. Also, owners can manage the Kona Electric via the Blue Link smartphone app, which enables them to start the vehicle and lock doors remotely as well as manage the charging schedule of the vehicle.

The powertrain largely remains the same, with a 201 horsepower electric motor powering the front wheels. The Hyundai-estimated MPGe is 132 city, 108 highway, and 120 combined, with an estimated range of 258 miles on a full charge. Expected to arrive in dealers soon, we’ll be eager to find out how much more popular the Kona Electric can become.
