Over the weekend, Chevrolet introduced a redesigned all-electric Bolt and a new version of the popular EV, the Bolt EUV, with crossover-like styling for customers who want more room inside and a higher ride height, along with cutting-edge features such as Super Cruise self-driving technology. Being an integral part of General Motors’ plan to launch 30 new EVs globally by 2025, the Bolt and Bolt EUV are just the opening to GM’s new emissions-free vehicle focus.

The EUV version of the Bolt is 6 inches longer than the regular Bolt, bringing with it a roomier interior and more rear legroom. In addition, the EUV gets standard LED headlamps while notable options solely for the EUV are a panoramic power sunroof and Super Cruise. Notably, the Bolt EUV is the first Chevrolet vehicle offered with Super Cruise, which utilizes a Driver Attention System and precision LiDAR map data to provide a hands-free driving experience while ensuring the driver is monitoring the road.

Standard equipment on both Bolt versions includes a 10.2-inch-diagonal infotainment touchscreen, a sporty, flat-bottom steering wheel, and redesigned seats feature a triangular geometric pattern and contrasting color stitching. Chevy Safety Assist is also standard and provides automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, and front pedestrian braking as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Available options are a 4G LTE WiFi Hotspot, high-definition surround vision when parking, adaptive cruise control, heated back seats, as well as heated and ventilated front seats.

As for range, both Bolt versions have a 65 kilowatt-hour, lithium-ion battery pack, giving the standard Bolt a GM-estimated range of up to 259 miles on a full charge while the larger Bolt EUV can travel up to a GM-estimated range of 250 miles when fully charged. DC fast public charging capability that’s standard enables each Bolt variant to get an additional 90 miles of range in 30 minutes. Both Bolt types get a 200 horsepower electric motor and also have a One Pedal Driving feature which lets the driver speed up, slow down and even come to a complete stop using only the accelerator pedal.

To make having an EV even more easier, Chevrolet is offering a new Dual Level Charge Cord (standard with EUV, optional on base Bolt), which for most customers eliminates the need to purchase a separate charger for home, with a changeable plug that allows owners to plug into a standard 120-volt three-prong outlet for Level 1 charging and a 240-volt outlet for Level 2 charging up to 7.2 kilowatts. Furthermore, customers can locate chargers using the myChevrolet app and view the car charging status remotely with the optional Chevrolet EV Access package.

Ultimately, the upcoming Bolts will continue to make Chevrolet a powerful force in America’s electric vehicle market. With the 2022 Bolt EUV priced from $33,995 (including destination charge) and the 2022 Bolt EV starting at $31,995 before any state, local, or utility incentives, General Motors has made the EVs as affordable as possible too. With the current Bolt already being a very impressive vehicle, we’re interested in seeing how much better the 2022 Bolt EV and EUV variants are.
