Dodge’s Durango has been a popular pick for families that want a vehicle that’s both aggressively styled and practical while offering a high level of performance. For 2021, the styling becomes even more aggressive both on the outside and inside, with a dashboard designed to look like that in the Challenger sports car. In addition, the UConnect5 infotainment system has been added which is five times faster than the previous generation UConnect system and brings a 10.1-inch touchscreen.

Customers can choose from six different models: base SXT, midrange GT, luxury-oriented Citadel, performance-bented R/T, high-performance SRT 392, and the all-new super-high-performance (with 710 horsepower) Durango SRT Hellcat that’s available for the 2021 model year only, capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds.

Changes on the outside are visible with the new front end, LED lights, and back spoiler while the inside gets the aforementioned larger touchscreen as well as an updated center console. Wheel designs across all trims have been redesigned too. Those who opt for the Tow N Go Package on the Durango R/T with all-wheel-drive can tow up to 8,700 pounds, a best-in-class number, while (without a trailer attached to it) sporting an increased top speed of 145 miles per hour.

Meanwhile, those who prefer comfort over performance can choose the Citadel heated and ventilated Nappa leather front and passenger seats along with heated captain chairs in the middle row. Standard features include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and UConnect infotainment system. The base engine is a V-6 generating 295 horsepower with a 360-horsepower HEMI V-8 optional in the Citadel and standard on the R/T. The SRT 392 gets a larger 472-horsepower V-8 with the Hellcat receiving the largest V-8 putting down 710 horsepower.

Overall, family SUV shoppers looking for something with 3 rows but packing a punch should have the Durango on their short list. They’ll be surprised by the amount of power available on today’s family vehicles and will likely enjoy shocking their passengers whenever they put their foot down on the highway.
