The X3 is BMW’s compact Sports Activity Vehicle which blends standout-driving qualities on any terrain with unrestricted everyday usability. Engine choices are a turbocharged 2-liter 4-cylinder delivering 248 horsepower in the rear-wheel-drive sDrive30i and all-wheel-drive xDrive30i models while the turbocharged 3-liter inline 6-cylinder in the all-wheel-drive-only M40i makes 355 horsepower. Buyers of the four-cylinder X3 can choose the Luxury Package with chrome kidney grille bars and a SensaTec-upholstered dashboard. Picking the M Sport package brings the M Aerodynamic kit (front apron with larger air intakes and diffuser-style rear apron), and firmer suspension. Outdoor activity-oriented customers can get a factory-installed trailer hitch for the first time on an X3. Standard features include 40:20:40 split/folding rear seats, rear seat backrests that can be adjusted individually, and Active Protection, BMW’s pre-crash accident detection system.
